AI Phone Orders and Your POS: How the Integration Actually Works

DineCall AI picks up the phone, takes the order, and sends it where it needs to go. Your POS, kitchen screen, and printer setup stay exactly as they are.

The most common question before a DineCall demo is some version of this: "What happens to my POS?" The answer is always the same. Your POS is not going anywhere. DineCall works alongside it.

What "alongside" actually means

DineCall AI is a telephone layer. It picks up the phone, has the conversation, takes the complete order, and sends it to a destination. The destination is configurable — it can be DineCall's own live Kitchen Order Board, or it can feed into your existing POS through DineCall's open ordering API, depending on your setup. We confirm which path is right for your restaurant during the demo.

What the integration supports

DineCall has confirmed integrations with the following platforms: POS KING, Square, Toast, Clover, SpotOn, NCR Aloha, Shift4, RestoSuite, Olo, and OpenTable. For restaurants running a system not on this list, the ordering API covers the integration path — the technical team confirms the wiring during onboarding.

POS KING, the Richmond, BC–based POS provider widely used by Chinese and Asian restaurants in BC, is listed first in the integration registry. It offers cloud POS, self-order kiosks, kitchen display systems, and bilingual English/Chinese operation — a configuration that overlaps directly with DineCall's bilingual phone capability.

What changes for the kitchen

Nothing in the kitchen changes if you do not want it to. Phone orders appear on DineCall's live Kitchen Order Board on any web-enabled device — tablet, screen, laptop — so the team sees the same information they already look at, in the same place. If you prefer the ticket to land inside your existing KDS or POS workflow instead, that is the path we configure during onboarding.

Printers and kitchen routines stay as they are. The AI takes the order, the board sends the ticket, the kitchen works the same way it always has.

What changes for the phone

The phone line itself changes completely. Instead of a human answering — or a voicemail — the AI picks up. It speaks English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, detects the caller's language within one or two words, and handles the full order. The response latency is under 800ms, so the call feels natural. King Do Seafood has taken 100+ phone orders this way. Lao Cai takes both orders and table reservations on the same line, in both languages.

The restaurant keeps its existing phone number. DineCall provisions a routing number and the restaurant forwards to it — conditional forwarding when the line is busy or unanswered, or a straight unconditional forward. When the AI cannot complete something — a complex special request, a catering inquiry — it hands the call to the team.

Setup timeline

Configuration and AI training take 2–3 business days. That covers menu digitization, bilingual translation verification, and routing tests. No new hardware is required at the restaurant. When you go live, the line forwards and the AI starts answering.

Pricing and what it includes

Two options: 10% of all orders, capped at $1,000 per month, or a flat $3 per order and $3 per table reservation. No setup fee. No monthly subscription. AI phone answering is included in both plans.

The comparison that matters: third-party delivery platforms charge 20–30% per order. DineCall's 10% plan covers all channels — phone, online, and QR — for every order that comes through the platform, with a monthly cap that makes it predictable for high-volume restaurants.
