DineCall AI Blog
Insights on AI phone answering, restaurant operations, and how real restaurants use DineCall AI.
What to ask before you buy an AI phone
This page gathers the buying side of AI phone answering: the questions to put to a vendor before you sign anything, what a voice ordering system does for a restaurant, and what it costs to keep one running per location. It is the page to start on if you are still comparing vendors rather than fixing a phone that is already being answered.
Two posts here are cost arguments instead of product descriptions. One puts direct ordering next to third-party delivery apps, where a commission of 20% to 30% per order sits against a monthly subscription and no order commission. The other sets out what a restaurant AI phone ordering system actually costs. A third asks the question that comes up in almost every first call: if the menu changed this morning, does the AI phone host know yet — and the answer depends on whether prices live in a bilingual menu CMS that every channel reads from, or in a screen somebody has to re-read.
The through-line across all six posts is the decision itself: whether the phone stays a manual task or becomes a channel the restaurant runs on, and what to compare when you take that decision. Two posts here answer the question in money terms, two in product terms, one in the language your customers actually speak, and one in the plain language of a request for proposal.
